Bunad silver Nordmore gentleman

Nordmore gentleman

Todays version of this Bunad is made from reconstructions of old garments, and is based on the costume habits typical for inner Nordmore during the first half of the 1800's. The coat is double- breasted with brass buttons and made in darkblue woolen cloth (lloden). There are two types of breeches, one in loden and one in embroidered moose hide. The vests are in red loden or in two-colored woolen damask. White shirt, suspenders, stockings and lace belong with this bunad. The head garment may either be a hat or a red cap. There's also a cape to be found for this bunad, sometihng that's not so common elsewhere in Norway.

The silver:
In the neck line of the shirt one uses a grand oxidized neck button with pendants, and cufflinks in the sleeves. The coat has got four buttons i the back, one in each sleeves and eight pair in the front. In the vest there's nine pairs of buttons and in the breechers there will be buttons in the front flap, and six at the knee. All the buttons are brass, same as the belt buckle and the knee buckles. In addition, a man should have a knife, a timepiece and a chain for it to complete the outfit.
