Bunad silver West-Agder gentleman

West-Agder gentleman

The gentleman's West-Agder Bunad as we know it today has roots back in the 1820s. It has breeches and a coat in black fabric with green cuffs, green collar and knee lining. The vest is usually striped in black and red. The silver consists mainly of buttons; preferably cloudberry buttons. You need 12 big ones for the coat and 18 small ones for the vest, the sleeves on the coat, and the knee lining. The flap in the pants has 5 flat buttons. Then you have the neck buttons and cufflinks for the shirt, these are usually of the Holland button type. You may use a small ripple ring, a horn ring, or another type of neck pin too. The knee lining should have clasps.
