Vestfold lady

Vestfold never had especially strong traditions for Bunads. This area in Norway has always had a lot of rapid changing, and strong impulses from the rest of the world. This is probably why there are many editions of the ladies Vestfold Bunad, but all the silver they use have a lot in common.

The Silver: You usually use a plain neck ring for the shirt, together with a bigger brooch with dishes on the chest. Alternately you can use a small heart-brooch between them. It is common to tie up the waist with a chain threaded like a shoelace through eyelets attached to the waist piece. Most commonly you will find 4 pairs of eyelets. A purse clasp, a belt buckle and a ring also belongs with this Bunad, and if you own a cape you will need a clasp for it too. On some of the ladies Vestfold Bunads you will find a plaque belt, others will just have a simple belt with a buckle. Alternative accessories are shoe buckles, a knife and ear trinkets, although a knife and ear trinkets do not really belong with this Bunad.
