Bunad silver Gudbrandsdalen gentleman

Gudbrandsdalen gentleman

The male Bunad from Gudbrandsdalen comes in various models. The Bunad put into production in 1962 have three types of coats. A black or white knee-long, and one black shorter waistcoat. A detailed reconstructed from the early 1800s exists as well. The pants for this Bunad can be both long and breeches.
The silver: On the knee-long coat it should be used 2 buttons on each sleeve. In front there's a double row of eight buttons each. The shorter coat has one button on each side of the lower collar and rows of 4 further down. On each sleeve there are three buttons. Both pants and breeches have buttons in the wide waistline. The breeches also have three buttons and a buckle by the knee. In the shirt it's customary to use a double neck button with cross leaf or a neck ring holding the neck collar together. Cuff buttons are often inspired by the leaf rose or haystack button. On the vest there's a single row of 6 buttons. It's common to use mainly oxidized silver, but other metals may be used as well. In addition one might add a knife, a timepiece and a chain.
