Bunad silver Numedal Lady Flesbergdrakt

Numedal Lady Flesbergdrakt

This costume was first used in the 1800s. In Flesberg it was common to use up to 7 skirts on top of each other. Today you only use 2-3 layers. The costume has changed some over the years, depending on which materials were available, and the fashion at the time. This is the reason for the different variations of this Bunad. The picture shows Kongsberg's variation. They use both black and blue for the waist piece and skirt. The shirt has embroideries at the neck collar and at the cuffs. The headdress has wide ribbons for tying under the chin. There is also a cape and coat for this costume.

The silver: The silver for the Flesberg costume is sparse. You use a neck ring at the top of the shirt, and sometimes an additional brooch underneath. Ten to twelve silver buttons are used on the waist piece, and cufflinks for the shirt and coat. A time piece with a chain and a knife also belongs with this costume.
