Bunad silver Fusa lady

Fusa lady

The Fusa Bunad is built around costume materials from the beginning of the 1800s and is one of the most colorful in the country. The Bunad varies a little in looks after which occasion it is worn; a white apron with a belt for special events, and a red apron with or without belt for more common events. The color of the waist piece and the head garment also tells if you are married or not.

The silver: There are several types of eyelets for the waist piece. It may be facial motives, Maria- monograms and leaves, or just simple silver rings. The eyelet chain is in silver with spears at the ends. The shirt uses one or two brooches and a neck button on top. Many use old costume silver or newer from the area. In the shirtsleeves one has cufflinks and buckles for the shoes. The broad belt is held together in front by fasteners or buckles. A Bunad ring, earrings, timepiece and a knife also goes with it all.
