Bunad silver West-Telemark gentleman

West-Telemark gentleman

The most commonly used variation of the West-Telemark gentleman's Bunad is the black one. It slightly resembles a modern black suit. Especially if it is used with pants and not knee breeches. There is more than one edition of this Bunad, some of them have a lot in common with the gentleman's Hallingdal Bunad.
The silver is mostly buttons. It's usually 10 big ones for the coat and 18 or 24 small ones. These are used on the vest, the sleeves on the coat, and on the knee lining. The tailors have their own variations around this. In addition to buttons you can use neck buttons or a horn ring at the top in the neck area, then there is a neckerchief, and further down you can use a horn ring and/or one or more small neck pins. Naturally you will need cufflinks.
On a gentleman's Bunad you should have a knife, preferably with silver decorations and engraved patterns, together with a cut pattern in the leather of the sheath. If the pants are made for a belt, and not suspenders, you will need a nice belt with a matching belt buckle.
