Bunad silver Voss Wives Bunad

Voss Wives Bunad

The Bunad tradition in Voss has always been strong, and the variations in shirt, apron, belt and chest cloth often had a personal twist. Today the variations are smaller, but there is still a difference between married and unmarried. Married women use a headdress and a shirt with black seam and the skirt has a green edge. The Bunad has a white apron. Married women are the only ones that use a plaque belt and a chain with Dalar.

The silver: The shirt is held together with either a double neck button or a small brooch at the neck, and a bigger brooch further down. The cuffs have cufflinks and there is a chain around the neck to attach Dalar in. A plaque belt and belt buckle belongs with this Bunad. Most of the silver is gilded with the exception of the neck button, chain and cufflinks. Shoe buckles, a knife, a timepiece, earrings and a ring completes the picture.
