Bunad silver North-Tronderbunad lady

North-Tronderbunad lady

The costume from North-Trøndelag was designed by Hjørdis Halmoy Floan, and was first produced towards the end of the 1930s. It is based on preserved costume-materials, but is not a direct copy. You will find several editions of this Bunad, and it is mainly the waist piece that is the difference. Two of the waist pieces are made in woolen damask, and a fair gilded silk fabric with a flower pattern. The skirt, shirt and pocket are the same in all editions. A headdress, neck cloth and cape also belong with this Bunad.

The silver: It has been made one small and one big brooch for this Bunad. It is common to use a small neck brooch at the top of the shirt. Further down you use a bigger brooch, and you have cufflinks for the cuffs. The cape and waist piece is decorated with quite big silver buckles with a pattern from old Bunad silver. The purse clasp is made in silvered bronze, it is based on an old brass clasp from Verdal. A ring, a knife and earrings completes this Bunad.
