Numedal Lady Skjaelingskleda
The Skjaelingskleda (Skjælingskleda) from Numedal is based on the costume-traditions in upper Numedal in the second half of the 1800s. A Skjæling is the stiffened wave-shaped edge on the waist piece and the coat.
The silver for the Skjælingskleda is sparse. You use a neck ring or a brooch (sometimes two) in the shirt at the nape of the neck, and cufflinks in silver.
The waist piece has 10 or 12 silver buttons. The coat has two silver buttons at the split in the sleeves. The coat is usually closed with hidden hooks. It is possible to switch these out with coat clasps in silver.
