Bunad silver Austevoll lady

Austevoll lady

This ladies' Bunad from Austervoll came in 1984 after fifteen years of work. The waist piece for married ladies is in green velvet, it is red for unmarried women. The Bunad is in dark blue woolen cloth. The chest cloth may have embroideries in wool, with or without pearls. The belt usually follows the same pattern as the chest cloth. The married may also use a gilded plaque belt. Head garments and stockings also differ from married to unmarried.

Silver: In the neck of the shirt there is a neck button and on the chest there is a gilded face brooch with dishes. The waist piece is kept together by an eyelet chain made from silver, threaded through silver eyelets. Apart from a belt buckle at the waist, married women also use belt plaques in gilded silver, fastened on a leather belt. In the sleeves of the shirt there should be cufflinks, and on the black shoes a couple of nice buckles. A ladies knife, a ladies time piece, earrings and a Bunad ring will complete the set.
