Bunad silver Ringerike lady

Ringerike lady

This Bunad appeared in 1954 following a wish for a more extravagant costume for festive occasions. The Bunad has gorgeous embroideries at the waist piece, skirt, purse and hat. The pattern is from a 200 year old embroidery. The cut of this costume is inspired by the Graffer Bunad from Gudbrandsdalen. The fabric is dark blue or black. A cape and shoes belongs with this Bunad too.

The silver: The silver is oxidized and quite elegant and thoroughly done. The neck button and other brooches usually have large filigree pendants. It is common to use a neck button at the top and larger brooch further down. The cufflinks has a filigree pattern too. The waist piece is held together by eyelets and an eyelet chain with spears that go down to the skirt. The chain is held in place by a pretty clasp at the waist. It has been more common to use a belt with plaques lately too. A bag lock, a cape clasp, shoe buckles, a ring, earrings, a time piece and a knife also belongs with this Bunad.
